S.P.CA. CRUELTY CASE. AMERICAN RADIO NEWS

MAGISTRATE REPROVES

WITNESS

In connection with the cruelty caso reported yesterday, Inspector Fisher of the S.P.C.A., produced the master of the Kwong Cheung poultry yard, before Mr. E. W. Hamilton this morning.

This man said that the fowls in question did not come from his yard. They were imported from abroad by bis firm and were unloaded st the Praya from a junk. They ware taken direct from there in to the their

croten original Cheungshing Street depot the market people took delivery. maintained that his firm was responsi ble for the fowls until they were taken from their premises, and then The the responsibility erased. market people. he said, when they took delivery of the fowl, brought their own crates which were smaller than the original ones, and transferred the fowls into them. In this case the buyers of the fowls in question were the San Chung Taishop of the Central Market.

Inspector Fisher-said that he bad examined the original crates in which the fowls were said to have been brought from abroad and they were satisfactory.

A foki of the Sang Chung Tai ehop raid that he bought the fowls from the Kwong Cheung firm, bat denied re- sponsibility for the moving of the fowle. He admitted engaging the coolies to remove them, bat said that the crates were supplied by the Kwong Cheung firm.

The master of the Kwong Cheong denied emphatically that his firm had anything to do with the moving of the fowls.

The Magistrate told Inspector Fisher in future cases to prosecute both the vendors and the purchasers of the fowls so as to make sure of responsible getting hold of the

person.
