KIDNAPPING CHARGF,
MORE EVIDENCE HEARD,
Evidence was heard by Magistrate Lindsell yesterday afternoon, in the case in which two Chinese were charged with having been congerned in the kidnapping of Chan Kwai San, the 14-year old son of Mr. 1 A Chanson, of No. 66, Caine Road.
The first defendant is Cheung Chce Wan ex-Private Secretary of a former Givil Governor of Canton, who was charged with having insticated and been an accessory to the kidnapping: while the second d-fendant, Cheung Chenk Chic, was charged with the acteal kidnapping of the boy.
Mr. G. G. N. Tinson prosecuted for Mr. Chanan. Mr. M. K. Lo appeared for Chung Chue Wan, Cheung Cheak Chin was not defended.
Mr. Tinson asked for permission to take the cases against the defendants separately as it was necessary for him to use the evidence of the record defendant against the first

The case against the second- defen- dant was taken ist. He admitted having kidnapped the boy. Formal evidence of his arrest in Macao, and of his subsequently being charged

Magistrate warted the defendant. that whatever he might ay in the case against the first defendant would i have to be given volontarily by kim. sad would not in any way inficence the Court concerning the charge against him, which would be tried at the Criminal Session next month.
The case against the first defendant, Cheung Choe Wan, was then proceeded with.

On October 8, the witness received another $200 from Lee Shun Bing to take the boy to Macao and keep him there. That same afternoon, at 2 p.m., the witness, the boy, and two other men Ng Ming Pa and Clan Kan, who are in the employ of the Erst defendant and the man Ler, left for Macao by the s.3. "Sui Tai." They stayed two days et a Chinese hotel, and ther Chan Kan engaged a boat and they took the boy on board on the pretext of going for! a picnic. At 6 p.m.. on the 10th, the boat raa-bed Pakcbiu where Half hour, they spent the night.
