SHIPPING MEN OBJECT. Transportation circles and shipping men in general are not in favour of the move made by the shipping board in changing the names of the 535 type passenger liners, according to the con- sensus of opinion expressed says the San Francisco Chronicle
All of the 535 type liners on bath the Pacific aud Atlantic coasta are to be renamed after presidents of the United States. In view of the fact shipping men declare that ap- proximately $600 000 has been expended by the shipping board throngboat the world in advertising the vessels, the determination to change the vessels' names is inadvis able. They further declared the particularly in China, where the Matate liners of the Pacific Ma Steamship company are beching known, it will be a distinct loss to the shipping board to change the
names of the liners.
- Under the decision of the shipping | board twenty-two of the 335-type liper and 502 design vessels willi be named. The fire vessels owned
