The sterling value of practically all items shows a decrease for the rea-a son given above, but a number of items were imported to a larger extent The actual differences in the principal import are shown in than last year. the following table:-

when he noticed the truck com- ing out of a godown next door | Imports.. to the Exile Garage's dipot. The Exports coolies did not, attempt to stop the truck but proceeded to semes the road. Accordingly. he stopped his car, and later seeing the road was clear, restarted in: His front wheels passed the truck withoar is- cidez: but a moment later there was a lond crash and the coolies began to short. He then found that the front) of the truck had swang round in the direction of the car and had smashed the left back wheel and mudguard. The spokes were broken ani the pre punctured. The truck was heavily which with laden

steel rods proʻraded on the sides and ends.

Mr. Dennys sail that the load in the truck weighed 6,000 lbs. He did not think it possible for the truck to have been swung round suddenly in the direction of the car, unless those i pulling it bad walked into the harbour. He suggested that what happened was that the car parsed to tear to the truck.

The Magistrate eaid that it was quite posible for one of the wheels of the truck to have got stuck and for it to have swung round it depen dently of the paliers.

Mir. Dennys said that having regard to the weight of the lead that was highly improbable, indeed alm st impossible.

After further

ese discnexion, Magistrate suggested that it was use! 1ess to go on with the case.

Mr. Dennys said that he thought that i really amounted to a civil action. If the garage people thought they had a gievance they could take the cas to the Summary Court for Comages,

Inspector Garrod said that he issued the summons because careless driving was geri against the truck people.
