OLD LEIAL CEREMONY.

Sir Robert Horue, Chancellor of the Exchequer presided and wore the customary lately black and gold ceremonial robes of his office.
He was accompanied on the Bench by Justices Darling. Coleridge, Shear- man, Salter aud Green. Saturday being an exceptional day for the caremony, there was only a scanty attendance of spectators, and no counsel were present.

There was a large attendance at the Police Recreation Club fortnightly Whist Drive. The following were the prize winners-

Opportunity was taken during the evening to present a wedding present to Mr. J. Watson. Mt. James in making the presentation on behalf of the Club, paid tributo to Mr. Watson's good nature and sporting spirit. The present took the form of a silver tea se vice with blackwood tray suitably in scribed.
