Mr. A. E. Hall appeared for the master tailor.

Inspector Watt had no evidence to offer against this man and the divan keeper, excepting what the first de- fendant alleged against them, and they were discharged.

First defendant admitted possession of the opium, which he however still maintained that he had bought at No. 54, Stanley Street for the informer, for the sake of making a little commission.

ile was sentenced to six months'

hard labour.

The other man was charged with the possession of the 8 mace of opium. He said that it was given him by his master to conceal when Inspector Watt came.

Inspector Watt said that he was inclined to believe this man's story as it was well known that most divan keepers employ catspaws to undertake responsibility in case of a raid.

A Sue of $50 of six weeks' was imposed.

"Dorothy "out-ran the fleet in the Gael Class going down to the island but fell away on coming on the wind and was unable to finish. "Toinette,' in new hands seems to have found her form of last year though with more weight in the wind 'Gael" will probably prove her equal. "Viking" ŝnished ahead of some of the Hey- ward-Hays yachts who started five minutes in front of her; she will always have to be reckoned with.
