De Rome and Pearce wore dis- posed of very cheaply, although the latter's 25 was the second best score of the innings. Miss Joan Mayne had the bulk of the work and she gave a capital performance as the rector's daughter who, while pretend- ing to earn her living as an artist, is really carrying on a highly successful- ly turf commission agency, being assisted thereto by a benevolent uncle who gets into "hot water" when his severely respectable wife finds out about it. There is a steady current of genuine fun running right through the piece to the eminently satisfactory
