The twenty-fourth annual men's, barbour race was held under the auspices of the Victoria Recreation Club yesterday afternoon. Interest was a keen as on Monday, and large crowds again lined the Prays walls long before the race was scheduled to start. The record feat of transmitting an electrical current of 1,000,000 volts bas. been accomplished by engineers of the General Electric Company at Pitts feld, Massachusetts, states a special despatch to the New York Times.

As the result of this achievement, which is described as the climax of more than 30 years' experimenting, it will be possible to transmit electric power to a distance of 1,000 miles from its source.
