SERBS AND ALBANIANS FIGHT OVER FRONTIER DISPUTE.
BOTH SIDES LÖSE HEAVILY.
LONDON, September 25.
A new war has broken out in the Near East:as the result of the failure of the League of Nations to fix the Serbian and Albanian Frontier. I tele- gram from Rome states that messages from Valona report that the com- mander of the Serbian forces on the river Drina gave the albanians 24 hours" notice to evacuate six strategically important positions on the frontier. The Albanians failed to comply, whereupon after a furious 24-hour bombardment the Serbians occupied the district. The Albanians again attacked and after bitter fighting in which both sides lost heavily, repulsed the Serbians, taking prisoner a number of Serbs and Russians belonging to the former Wrange!
