ANOTHER ROW IN CENTRAL EUROPE.
LONDON, FAugust 29, While the League of Nations is about to try to settle the Upper Sile question, the Entenie is faced with another central European, disobe tween Hangary and Austria. It is for possession of the mar district of Borgenland which is to be handed over to Austria under the peace treaty. The Austrian gendarmerie who entered wat Hungary apparently object to taking over the control of the district if opposed by Hungarian soldiers and in accordance with instructions the Entente officers returned across the frontier. Now Vienna reports that Hungarian armed bands, commanded by uniformed Hungarian officers, led by Colonel Hejjas, the leader of the "Awake Hunzary" party, have occupied the railway. station at Dedenburg, the principal town of Burgenland, pending negotif tions for settlement of the question. It is reported that the Entente is send ing troops from Silesia to occupy Burgenland.

An extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Nations heard a report prepared by Baron Ishii as regards Upper Silesia. It was discussed for ninety minutes, and adjourned to September 1st to enable the members to study the voluminous documents on the subject.

With reference to applications for building sites in "non-urban districts, will the Government, in fairness to the applicant who has frequently bezg put to considerable trouble and ex- pense in selecting his site, consider the advisability of disposing of such sits by private treaty instead of by public auction?
The Hon. Mr. H. E. Pollock, K.C. will ask the following questions ****
(1) Is not the Report of the Com? Imitee appointed to go into the question of the use of sea-water for fushing purposes now ready? 1 not, when will it be ready? When wil such Report be published?
(2.) What information can the Government give to the Council with regard to Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice's Report on the Improvement of the Harbour? Cannot the Government take steps to expedite the obtaining of such Report?
RESOLUTIONS.
The Hon. Mr. H. E. Pollock K. C. will move(1.) That, in view of the shortage of European office and business accommodation in this Calène and in view of the shortage of sites for Chinese business premises in this Colony. it is imperative thak the Military Establishments along the Queen's Road should be tran ferred from their present site in the centre of the City to some other site or at the earliest possible date.
(2.) That, with a view to encourage the construction of new houses, in this Colony. It is destrable for thef Government to pass an Ordinance exempting, for 3 years after comple- |tion, from liability to pay fates, any new buildings, the plans for which may be sent in for the first time after the commencement of such Or dinance.
(3.) That a Committee of three Merabers of this Council be appoint- ed for the purpose of considering what reasures can be taken.
