LONDON, Augus: 11.

In the House of Commons, Mr. Auster Chamberlain announced that be had received Mr. De Valera's reply which he immediately transmitted to Mr. Lloyd George. He hoped that the latter would be able to make state ment regarding Ireland on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Sinn Fein au thorities in Dublin announce that the Irish representatives in Paris, Rome, and Washington have been recalled to attend the coming meeting of Dail Eireann. The British Government has undertaken to issue passports to facilitate their journey.

PARIS, August 11.

Owing to the nature of Mr. De Valera's reply, Mr. Lloyd George is

NO AGREEMENT REACHED.

PARIS, August 12.

To-day Mr. Lloyd George again beld a conference with M. Briand as regards Upper Silesia until seven o'clock in the evening, after which M. Briand declared that agreement had not been reached but he would con. tinue hopeful to the end. Mr. Lloyd George is seeing M. Briand to-morrow before his departure. Mr. Lloyd George proposed a new demarcation line between the German and Polish frontier which M. Briand submitted to his -experts.

ALARMIST REPORTS NOT SUPPORTED.

LONDON, August 12.

Reuter's enquiries in London do not support the French alarmist forecast of the Irish reply. Well-informed circles state that the com- munication is in the nature of a continuation of the informal talks with Mr. Lloyd George naturally inviting a reply and tending to a continuance of negotiations which the latest development in the situation does not jeopardise. Meanwhile it seems significant that Messrs. Barton, McGrath, and O'Brien have again occupied the suite of rooms in the Grosvenor Hotel in London takea by the Sinn Feiners during Mr. De Valera's recent visit. Mr. McGrath states that their stay is indefinite.
