Yesterday evening, one of the lions, which for some time past had been showing hostility to the tamer suddenly sprang upon him, mauling tamer's brothers rushed to his assist him badly in the shoulder. The ance, and fired blank cartridges at the lion from a revolver, and finally the animal, scared by the firing, released his victim and retreated into a corner of the cage.
The tamer was at once taken to hospital, where his injuries were found to be of a serious nature.
