WHY NOT GIVE THE TRUTH A CHANCE?..
From such evidence as there is, we believe that the Communist Gov ernment in Russia is failing in its | task, and that Russia's Industrial life is now like a watch running down, without visible hope of being re- wound. If so, the fact is immensely interesting and important. Why not give it a chance, of attracting atten tion in England? It seems in danger of passing crinoticed because so much of our press does not find it tasty exough, and thinks it wiser to drench the English reader with fantastic fibs about someone or other in Russia. First there was the yarn that the Bolsheviks were nationalising all Russian women as prostitutes. Then there was the yarn about the "gloves" obtained by boiling people's hands and arms in water and then fiaying them. The other day there was a new rarn-based on a pretly trans- parent forgery-about revolutionary intrigues to be carried on here by official Russian delegations. The usual exposure has followed in Parliament. It is as if we in Manchester could not criticise our municipal expenditure without saying that aldermen are bigamists
