There are no new features ́of in- terest to report in the cotton markets and prices continue to fluctuate with out any very definite trend in either direction. Values have certainly been steadier since the beginning of the month and a slight advance has again taken place during the last week, probably as the result of slackened selling pressure and a somewhat better trade enquiry. The rather improved tone is all to the good, but the sales of actual cotton remain disappointingly small and are no doubt restricted by the unsettled political situation. It would seem however, that the markets are ready to respond to any favourable develop- ments, but the prospects of any sound buying movement coming for- ward are still remote, although the Frevicus dificulty.of financing busi- ness is very much reduced now that cotton prices have reached such a

The difference represents such a substantial falling off of supplies for the various overseas markets that it must hasten a revival of demand. especially as it is likely to be con- tinued whilst output is on the present scale.
