It is with regret that we have to
announce the death at the Goren ment Civil Hospital on Thursday, of Capt. G. W. Eady. The deceased went to hospital early in the week suffering from oneumonia. Prompt attention pulled him through and be was progressing towards recovery when complications set in, zod death daimed him. The deceased, who was born in 1864 la Sydney, New South Wales, joined the China Navig- ation Company in 1895. He was still, at the time of his death, in the service of the same Company. He had thus an experience of more than 27 years on the China, Coast. During the war Capt. Eedy had a narrow escape when his ship was torpedoed by a German submarine in Mediter renean waters. In the early part of his career be was on the "Namoa," which figured in a well-known piracy case. Capt. Eedy was to take charge of the "Woochow," after her launching from the Kowloon Docks. He went into hospital on April 3, and on San- day last had to undergo an operation for abscess on the lungs.
