A living miracle of medical science was displayed to the Queen when she visited S, Bartholomew's Hospitaland laid the foundation-stone of the Queen Mary's Home for St. Bar tholomew's Nurses.
It was a six-month-old baby boy whose mother died at his birth, and who spent the first three weeks of his life in an incubator.
The Queen found him lying, a tiny, woolswatbed bundle, in a swinging cot in Elizabeth Ward. "What, a dear little thing!" she exclaimed. "Frank name?" What is his Bartholomew," the matron said, 'and then the Queen learned his history.
