Following are the training times Mr. Auster Chamberlaia's announcement at Birmingham, although | moning. They are given in minutes, at the Rice Course this not entirely unexpected, was hailed with a widespread sigh of satisfaction, seconds and fifths of seconds for each especialy from manufactures and inminem men who for the past six | quarter of the distance covered by

the porties - excess profitx tax, contending that it is an important factor in the present alump. The opinion is widely expressed that the announcement will produce a turning point in the Industrial depression, not only as account of the demise of the most unpopular tax and the Government's intention not to nesse taxation, but because it is an indication that the Government is determined to cut down the Budget. It is pointed out that apart from the psychological effect, all round material effects are most likely to accrue, not the feast of which will be an increased yield for the Exchequer. News of one of the immediate effects of the Chancellor's decision comes from Edinburgh where export houses are very jubilant- especially at the hint of protection against dumping. Scottish fires to-day received more orders than for weeks past.
