BOATMAN'S STORY.

ALLEGED BOGUS POLICÍMKY,

Doubt is cast by the police on the report of the master of a passenger boat who alleged the theft of $125 worth of dynamite and fuse from his vessel at Shaukiwan Bay.

According to his own story the

was engaged by a quarry master at Salt Fish Lane on Friday to take the dynamite to a quarry, at Ngautankok. About 7 pm, while the vessel

was under way,

and be strong wind rose, forced put into Shaukiwan Bay for shelter. A few minutes after he had cast anchor, two men came alongside in a dinghy. They claim ed, to be police officers and said that they had come to search for smuggled contraband The complainant told the strangers that he had no contraband on board, but was carrying cargo of dynamite for which he had a permit. The men examined the permit and said that it was useless. They placed all the dynamite in the dinghy --and rowed off in the direction of Saiwan- ho. The thieves also took the permit with them......

A Japanese lady, Mrs. Shidumatsu, was the victim of a rubbery last night. Walking along Praya East abcut 7

p., she states, she had passed the entrance to Amoy. Street, when she was suddenly seized by the neck from behind. Before she could free herself, she was accosted by two DOC.: ÜZE of whom threw pepper in her eyes, while the other snatched her hand- bag containing a $10 bill, 15 yen in Japanese notes and $2 in small change. The robbery occupied less than one minute, and she was released almost as suddenly as she was attacked. Her assaillants--she thought there were three of them.---- all disappeared up a side lane.

A Chinese aged about 30 years, was yesterday found murdered in an unnumbered and unoccupied house at Malungkung, Samsiuipo.,,Death was due to strangulation. The police removed the body to the Kowloon mortuary, and later, as the result of enquiries, arrested several men oo suspicion. Further enquiries are being made.

A 7-year old Chinese child was yesterday admitted to the Govern ment Civil Hospital suffering from injuries to his legs alleged to have been received through being knocked down at the junction of Queen's Road East and and Spring Garden Lane by private riesha No. 78, owned by Mr. Takeda, a Japanese tailor, of No. 61, Praya East.
