A good deal had been expected of the annual Ball of the Society of St. George, held last nightin the City Hall, by reason of the long and admirable | decorations. record of functions given by the Society in past years. The Colony knew that last night's function was the mena bound
a brilliant success. It could not be otherwise, with the Society behind it. But even the most extravagant of the 'expectations fell short of the reality. The Ball was: bigger than the standards by which it was to be judged. It was a huge success. It was the sort of thing that will Ginger long in the memories of the many who were fortunate enough to attend. It was a credit to the Society of St. George. And it spote well for the versatility, the taste, and capacity of such a faraway outpost of a Colony such this, that it could stage event on so large a scale and in a setting of auch beauty.
