Hidden In A Gramophone-A Chinese who recently arrived from dre United States, was this morning charged before Magistrate Smith) with the unlawful possession of two revolvers which were found con- cealed in a gramophone. Mr. M. K.' Lo, who appeared for the defence, admitted possession, and told the Magistrate that his client was an American citizen who had lived the best part of his life in the States.; His relatives had complained to bim that robbers infested the village. Accordingly he brought the revolvers with him from America to give to his relatives to use against outlaws. One point in his favour was that he had no ammunition for the revolvers... The Magistrate imposed a fine of $50 and ordered the confiscation of the revolvers.
