LONDON, June 1.

In the House of Commens, moving the second reading of the Mines Bill, Sir Robert Borne pointed out that the Ministry of Mines would not be independent of the Ministry; but a branch board of trade. He emphasised that there would be no nationalisation of the coal industry, bet control both by State and committees on which the workers would be represented. After August 31, the Minister would have power for a year to regulate pit prices, wages, and be amount of exports. After that a national board would lay down the general principles so that the rates as far as possible might be uniform throught the country. Thus wages would be based, not on the selling price, but on the profits. The Bill provides for an annual levy for five years of a penny in the ton on coal, producing £1,000,000 a year for the social welfare of the mining communities:

A powerful British squadron yesterday visited Moudania and landed a. party of matines, who arrested several Nationalist leaders, including the harbour commandant. LONDON, June 29tiz In the House of Lords, during a debate on the situation in Palestine and India, Lord Sydenham, Lord Lamington and Lord Talington criticised the Government's golicy, especially in apporating a Jew as High Commissioner of Palestine, as likely so lead to serious trouble, and asked how the interests of non-Jewish inhabitants will be safeguarded.
