SAID TO BE DYING.

1748.

CHINESE NEWSPAPER. KEPORT.

A Tokyo message dated June 17 to The China Sun, the Tientsin news- paper edited in English and Chinese, is as follows

Yoshihito, the Emperor of Japan, is a dying man. He is the last off the dynastic autocrats. The Czar is dead; the Kaiser in exile: the Em-: peror of Austria-Hungary is no mare.

This is the first news of his desperate illness that has reached the world No Japanese newspaper has: even mentioned it; the law prohibits them from commenting on such matters relating to the royal family. Bat I have it to-day from the most reliable sources that he is now in his last liness and that it is only a ques- tion of a short time before he will be gathered to his 121 fathers who have ruled Japan before him,"

The Newspaper Enterprise Associa- tion has issued a message from its Takyo correspondent declaring that the Mikado is dying.

The correspondent adils: "Tbe Emperor's 'condition is said to be pitiable. His ailment has affected his brain and he is incapable of attending to the simplest affairs of State, even if he is able to recognise those about him. The stricken ruler is living in the Imperial Villa, close to the beautiful seashore village of Hayama."
