On Saturday night at the Theatre Royal the audience were given a, chance of judging on her versatility when she appeared in the title role of "The Outcast." A play with
strong and
virile plot, making its appeal to human sympathies, it needs a very capable actress to carry it to success. It is on the outcast" that the great part of the work falls; she is the making or breaking of every scene. That Miss Marie Tempest made the play the great success it was will be conceded everywhere. The audience enjoyed every minute No. 1 of it and showed their appreciation with loud applause.
Miss Tempest received very" able support from Mr. Graham Browne and Miss Dorothy. Hamilton.
The performance was attended by HE the Gover and Lady Stubbs with a party trom Government House. In was thought, that this play would be the last presented by the Compar y

Tooth decay can be repaired by your dentist. But neglected gums-guns that bleed easily, become soft and tender, etart to recede open the way to Pyorrhea.
Pyorrhea starts with irritation and infection of the gums. This infection my spread to the root sockets the foundation upon which your teeth depend. If socket destruction reaches a certain point as a result of pyorrhea, your teeth loosen and fall out, or must be extracted. No dentist can save' thom, then.
So, if you want to have your teeth-watch your gums,

A fire is reported to have broken out in a block of four houses in
| Kong Fook village, Lantao Island, at 4 pm on June 19. The houses which are one storey high and are made of mud and mortar are occupied by farmers. The fire originated in two houses simul- taneously and soon both were gutted. The flames spread "to the two adjoining houses and caused considerable damage to the roofs before the villagers were successful
In extinguishing the fire without outside aid. In the ground floor of one of the bouses was a store of grass. fodder which blazed up furiously, The damage is estimated at $1,000. Enquiries made by the police after the fire lead to the supposition that it was not accidental in origin but deliberate. It is alleged by some of the villagers that a certain man was seen to sneak out of the village in the direction of Cheung Chow soon after the blaze was discovered." The carcasses of a bullock and a pig. both of which bore many stab wounds were discovered by the police, and further enquiries are now being prosecuted..
