SUMMARY COURT,

In the Summary Court yesterday aftercoon before the Puisne Judge, Mr. Justice Wood, an action was heard in which the Fo Hing firm, of 96 Bonham Street, sued Chun Chung of 355 Queen's: Road Central for the return at $490.20 being money depo sited with the defendant, or, in the alternative for money lent by the plaintiff to the defendant on January 12, 1918.

The latter received the money from the bank and hand-. edit to another man, who bought opium. It was at first stated that i the money was for the purchase of marine delicacies. The defendant admitted receiving the money but the question of the legality of the contract was raised.

The streets of Dublin are crowded with an idle procession. A thousand postmen closed the doors of the post office and prevented their reopening. They did not interfere with the telegraphs. The trade unions in Belfast and north- Ireland ignored, the order to strike.

LONDON, April 13.

Owing to the gathering crowd at Mountjoy, the Dublin military guard has been reinforced with three tanks and several armoured cars. Barbed wire is erected.

In the House of Commons at adjournment the Irish Attorney General stated that the general strike was substantially operative in the south and west but not in the north of Ireland. The railway west and south were- not working, but were practically normal on the Great Northern rallway. A substantial number of post officials had struck, but a number of post offices in Dublin were working. The ordinary business of Dublin was upheld, though a great many hotels and shops were closed. He hoped the evening's debate would clear the air, tending to bring to an end the drifting toward worse trouble. The Irish government were most anxious, for this.

It was now stated that since her death the lad, with the friendly help of neighbours; had personally looked after his seven brothers and sisters. He told the Bench that he sued his father for the arrears in the name of his dead mother, so that he might continue to shoulder the respon sibilities of maintaining the family.

The magistrate (Mr. W. B. Luke); pointed out that this was not only an impossible task for him to accom- plish at his age, but the law gave him no legal right to recover, the maintenance arrears from his father.
