The death occurred on March 4, 1 peculiarly tragic circumstances of M. Maurice Dusseldorp, manager of the Shanghai branch of L'Epargne Franco- Chinoise, who died as the result of a bullet wound in the head supposed to have been self-inflicted. It appears that M. Dusseldorp, who was formerly the Chief of Police in the Russian Concession in Tientsin, which posi tion he left to join L'Epargne Franço Chinoise, addressed letters to a num ber of people in Shanghai, in which be hinted at his death, stating that it would be for purely personal reasons and having nothing to do with the firm with which he was engaged. Some where about the tiffin hour. M. Dusseldorp was seen walking along the Rubicon road by natives, reading a newspaper. Some time after 2 p.m.
