OLYMPIC GAMES. ·
BRITISH PREPARATIONS.
In preparing for the Olympic Games We have always to bear in mind that time is short. The games are due to take place at Antwerp in the late sum- mer of 1920. Those who have dis- played the greatest geenness and en- thusiasm for the Olympic Games wish to make sport democratic they wish Co put sport within everyone's reach they wish to make sport attractive to those whose work and spare time are devoted entirely to non-health-giving, occupations. They hope to make the country realise that the regulated p.suit of sport is one of the country's greatest assets, and, moteover: vital to its prosperity in the hature
They wish to enlist the sym- pathy of all men, no matter of what position or in what part of the country they reside, who can by considering. the promotion of sport a personal obligation incumbent on their citizen- ship carry the country with them in a a manter more thorough than that cffected by any political party in the past. They feet that in the matter of the country's physical fitness there is the fullest scope and necessity for a sopen-coalition. They wish to see sport permanently and adequately en- dowed.
Those in authority leef that they are a small force who are determined, to do their best, but they realise that the | -operation of larger forces is im- porative. They wish to see in all big towns-in all small towns. for that matter, down to villages-a central organisation where all the various branches of sport may be united. They are hoping, that public-spirited men will give a lead in their various - localities. Commodious and.comfort- able club-houses should be provided. These club-houses should be sur rounded by g suimble extent Of ground. where games of every des cription can be played-games for the young games for the middle-gged. games for the old. These clubs should he for all, irrespective of rank
