KINEMA NOTES.
THE ENTERPRISING "CORONET"
A week ago the kinema critic of the China Mail would have defed the enterprising management of the Coronet Kinema, to produce anything further in the way of novelty. To his mind nothing remained for the Coronet but to maintain its high stan dard of excellence and he had laid down the law that improvement was Fimpossible. But ubi jus incertum, ibi jus nullum, and it would appear that there is no certainty as to what the Coroner will do next. To-day an ex- periment was made in the way of run ning a continuous performance. from 2.30 p.m. until 11.30p.m. as is done at Home, Fortunately-owing to the previous enterprise and foresight. of the management, the main ingredient for success was er hard i.e. a stock of first rate films, every one "gem" thus ensuring a continued reeling of interesting pictures without having to sandwich in makeshifts. The China Mail kinema critic strolled round to see Mr. Ray this afternoon, after the show had been going on for about an hour. It was quite unneces sary to ask whether the experiment had been successful for Mr. Ray was smiling all over his face and halfway down his back. There was an aver age attendance of about 150 during the working hours and so pressing wis the demand for seats later on that special coloured tickers had to be issued to ensure that those who had had about three hours of it should make way for new comers. Fourteen front rank pictures to suit all tastes vere screened, including drama, light comedy, educational, comedy and the Ar-5.30 light refreshments, including tea, ice cream and cakes were laid out, of which any member of the audience was invited to partake. To ensure good music three bands were in attendance and everything
