St. Joseph's College put up a hard fight in this match on the Club ground yesterday and although they lost by two goals to mil, the Club did not have the game all their own way. Of the two goals scored, the Club had to play all they knewto secure the first and even this was from a very creditable save by Omar. The other goal was a cumshaw, the Club being awarded a penalty in the midst of a melee in front of the Collegians' goal.;
The match opened fast. St. Joseph's Total felded their usual team, while the Club had to do without the services of Black and Stalker who have, not yet recovered from the effects of the Eng and Scotland match. McPhail played In place of Black and acquitted himself well, whist Tonkin the Shanghai F. C. Captain who has just been transferred to Hongkong made his first appearance. local football, as McPhall's. partner and proved to be very sound back. Riis made a very pcor

For the Collegians, while the forward line did not combine as effectively as they used to, one or two of the players appearing to be rather afraid of their heavier opponents of the Club's defence. Messrs. U. Omar, Dixon, Xavier. Ogley. Sep- her and D. Urquhart of the Colle gians' defence played sound sames and deserved great credit for pre- venting the opposing forwards from scoring cftener. But for this stub born defence, the Club, would at least have scored half a-dozen times. throughout the match.
