King Alexander, in reply, stated that the exhibiyon was due in large measure to "enthusiastic impressions gathered by the Greek Conimercial Mission during its visit to Great Britain and expressed the hope that it would extend the commercial re- lations between the two countries and a the same time contribute to the strengthening and consolidation of the cordial friendship so happily existing between the two countries.

ORION OF THE EXHIBITION. Towards the close of 1918, 2 number of Greek business men visited. the United Kingdon, in company with Major Kennard, who is "the Federation of British Industries' Commissioner in the Near East, the - object of this visit being to put the Greek business community in touch with British manufacturers. ORGANISING THE EXHIBITION.

The Federation'ól British Industries- at once took active steps in the mat ter. They got into touch with their members, explained the situation and finding a very large number of import ant manufacturers prepared to sup port warmly such an exhibition, they proceeded with the organisation of the ore which was held at the Zappeion, Athens, as mentioned above. Betirten 300 and 400 of the most important manufacturers of Great Britain exhibit- ed, the total value of the exhibits alone- exceeding £500,000: All classes of British Danufactures were repre sented, the range of products. extend ing from gramaphones to high power machinery.

The exhibition was unique inas- much as it was the first exhibition Be'd in a foreign country consisting of British manufactures exclusively. It is the largest exhibition held since the war and the largest one The ever held in the Near East. commercial success of the exhibition exceeded the most sanguine expécta- tions and the exhibition had hardly been opened for a private view when one exhibitor sold the whole of his exhibit on the spot and within a few
