The National Students Union at Aanghai has received a telegram from the students at Foochow re- preting the Japanese violence there. The telegram says that the Japanese were trying to take renge the students who organised lantern procession following the Japanese celebration
their Emperor's birthday. They fatally shot a student. The Japanese then entered the, Y.M.C.A., wounding two Americans." They also killed one policeman and wounded 11 other persons. Thirteen Japanese were arrested on the spot including one officer who, it was alleged was directing the outrage. The arrested men were all release: by the local commissioner of foreign affairs at the request of the Japanese Consul The Consular Body there called an urgent meeting and decided to ask their respective Government to despatch men-of-war to Fukien. The feeling of all the communities here is running high on receiving this information.

ARRIVO OF RESCUE SHIFS.
