One of the most striking features of weddings in the Far East is the apparent loneliness and isolation of the bride, who comes in nine cases out of teb, stnight from the old country, to be married to a man whom she has not seen for some time, some times for years... His friends crowd to the church and reception, partly from curiosity but mostly with a desire to accord her a henry welcome and to show that they are ready to take the place of n the friends and the home she has left.
