THE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

This week-end the kust eight will play off to see who are to cutest, aba semi-final, and the round ought) to provide some really good games. The competitors are

Dr. Lindsay Woods r. A. A. B. Stewart.

Major Leslie Smith . E. David

BOD,

Lt. Col. Colce v. G. S. Archbutt.. S. E. Dodwell . X. L. Smith. Stewart is a former champion, bat is not quite at his best and he will have all his work out out to beat Lindsay, Woods, who was in very good for last week.

Major Leslie Smith ought to ac count for Davidson, who was fertu aate to qualify hst week at Frand's perse; but Davidson is not a golfer to be taken cheaply.

In the third tie Archbutt is the favourite, thougs he will have to phy better than he did last week to win. He has been at the top of his form lately, and is considered good enough in many circles to con- test the final.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The annual general meeting of the Craigengower Cricket Club was held in the club-house. Happy Valley. Last evening.

Mr. J. H. N. Mody, Presidens, Was in the clair and was supported by Mr. R. E. Bellias (Vice-Presiden :), Mr. R. Basa (Hon. Secretary) and Mr. D. K. Kharus (Hon. Treasurer). There was a large number of mem- Ders present.

The Chairman sald We have every reason to congratulate our selves upon the working of the club for the past year. We have not beetj En successful as I could have wished in the cricket and tennis competitions, but, no doubt, with the incensed membership, which now numbers 150, we shall do better during the

The situation is little changed. The on the river and in the harbour have been much damaged. Many casual ties have occurred among the civilians.

HURLINGHAM CLUB PROTEST.

Hurlingham Club has protested against the proposal of Fulharr Borough Council to take one of its poto grounds: Major C. Peters, henorary manager of the club, stated, recently that the scheme, if carried out, would kill international, polo so far as England is concerned, as there would not be accommodation for the "players to prepace for 'big matches. In fact, it would probably break up the club, as one ground would be insufficient to accommodate the members. Hurlingham is Major Peters sild, the leading polo club on account of its position. I moved farther out it would be a county club, and would be of little or no ue to the members who now play tinkre.

"ing indeed to me to notice the in- crease in termbership. We all re- grot very nusir that one of our old members, Capt. Broadbridge, han passed away, and we tender our con- dolences to his relatives.

I have great pleasure in announcing has the members of the club raised & sub. scription amounting to about $600, on behalf of his chikiren. Our poei- tion from a financial standpoint is very satisfactory. We have a bal- Lace of $3,400.11, but against this we have to place bills amounting to $1.151.92, which had not been paid at the time of closing the accounts. The club is greatly indebted to Mr. Allen and Mr. Kharas for the trouble they have taken in the matter of finance. I also take this opportu- zity of thinking all, especially Messrs. Tollan and Pitt, for making the twenty-fifth celebration the club the great success it was No doubt every member has noticed the extensions to the club-house which are being carried out. We are build. ing three additional rooms, includ. ing ladies' room, lo meet the in- creased membership. As some of the members desired it, I have under. taken to defray the cost of the ex. tensions in conjunction with my friend, Mr. Belidios, and I hope you will all find the premises comfortable when the additions have been com- plated. I now beg to propose the adoption of the report and state of 1200unts.

Mr. R. E. Belilics seconded. Mr. Munuk referred to the grow- ing prosperity of the Club, and ex- pressed the hope that members would pay their outstanding subscrip tions, so that the club might redeem Kome debentures and pay the inter- est on others.

The report and statement of ac counts were then carried unanimous ly.
