LONDON, July, 11.... The Air Ministry states that the position of the R34 at 12.10 in the afternoon (Greenwich) was 46 deg. north and 35.50 west. She had covered 1,300 miles in the first twenty-four hours.
The Air Ministry says the position of the R34 at four in the morning of July 11 was 43.40 north and 46 west, or over half way across. She was in direct communication with Clifden, Azores, and was doing a speed of. 45 knots.
The Air Ministry reports the posi, i tion of the R34 at 8.30 on the even ing of July 10 to be 42:15 north and 54.05 west. A message was picked up at six in the afternoon (New York time) that she was going beautifully and everyone was "fine." One third of the way across she was going at sixty knots.
