On the Club ground the Engineers started play in this match in a manner suggesting an easy win. For some while Glenny in the Staff goal was bombarded with abots, and it was surprising how the goal escaped early in the game. Wain by means of a lusty kick relieved the situation for a while, and Ellarby and Street forced play to the R. ond, where Birch spoilt the movement. The first match this season for the Belilios Shield, of which the present holders are the Talkpo Rifle Club, took place on Saturday, in very good atmosphere. There srsaix teams entered, namely, the holders, the Dockyard Rifle Clab, The Manchesters, The Pelice and and Police Reserves, the Navy team, and the Defence Corps. Each team meets all the rest, five matches each.
Shooting on the Taikoo Rango on Saturday, the Taikoo Club was beaten by the Defence Corpe, by 61 points Corporal Grimes made a "possible" (seven bulls) at 200 yards. Pte. Jenkins nearly did it at 600 yards, his penultimate shot being a "magpie."
