The following telegram from the Secretary of State to the Officer Administering the Government, dated October Blat, has been kindly communicated to us
The following announcement will be made in both Houses Parliament this afternoon:---
"Some days ago General Townshend was Liberated in order to inform" the British Admiral in Compand in the Aegean that the Government of Turkey, ask that negotiations should be opened immediately for an armistice between Turkey and the Allies.
A reply was sent that if the Goremment of Turkey sent a fully accredited plenipotentiary, Vice-Admira) Calthorp was empower- ed to inform him of the conditions upon which the Allies would agree to a cessation of hostilities and to sign an armistice on these conditions and on their behalf.
Turkish plenipotentiary arrived at Mudros carly this week and an armistice was signed by Admiral Calthorp, on bellf of the Allied- Garemments last night, and came into operation at noon to-day.
It is not possible as yet to publish the full terms of the armistice but they include the free passage for the Allied, Seats: through the Bosphorus to the Black Sea, the occupation of the fortes on the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus necessary to secure thou passage and the immediate repatriation of Allied prisoners of war.
