ATTACKED BY HAMADRYAD. GOLFERS EXPERIENCE AT RANGOON.
A Rangoon paper reports that Lieut- Colonel Obbard, Commissioner of Pegt, and Major Williams, Rangoon Battalion, Military Police, had an unusual experi ence, while golfing at Mingaladon. They were in the open and approaching the twelfth hole when they saw a large anake a short distance in front of them, Major Williama went to see what kind it was, when it moved to attack him, He then was it sawa hamadryad,, or king cobra, and jumped as it struck. I missed him, but returned to the attack whereupon Colonel Uhbard went to Major Williams' assistance: The nake seeing him come, turned and track at bin, and bit the leg of bis trousers: he fortunately was not wear- ing shorts at the time. Before the anake could strike again, Colonel Obbard billed: it with his.mashie. It anesaared soven feet and was a very fine specimen of this species of snake.
