The annual Naval and Dockyan! Sports were held on Saturday after mogu in the Naval Yard, a large

Amongst those present cellency the Governor, Major-General Tetris and Hias Ventris, Commodore 'and"Mr. Sandleman, Commander and Mrs. Gibson, Commander Myburgh, Lt. Col.. Thursby Felham, the Hon. Mr. C. "Mel. Messer and quite a large number
spectators.
The various events were all very keenly contested with that
good- humoured and friendly rivalry, charue teristic of the British Tar. Many of the items provided mach amusement, particularly the Tilting the Bucket, the Sark Race, and the Obstsele Race. A goari "deal of interest was, however, somewhat magred by the fact that there was nothing to iniicate who was who, the competitors not wearing any mumbors, and fer this reason it impossible zu discuss, in retail, many interesting races and close finishes.
Corpi Strange won the 100 partis open to the Colony Race which carried with it the Championship of the Colooy
Mrs, Sandaman distributed the prizes and was presented with a ne bonnet.
Commodore Sandeman addressed the gathering, saying that he hoped the anoressful porta day they had had would be the precursor of similar events is the future. They had a double object— fostering interest in sports and bringing he sister services of the doskɣar.1 together.
The speaker humorousely remarked. that no prize had been given to the Committee who bad done all the work. He was the Chairman of that Commit. 16-(Laughter).
