HONGKONG TIDES.
The tide-table given below has been compiled at the National Almanac Office in London from the result of the analysis of observations taken by means of automatic tide recording machine in the Water Polis Basin at Trim Sha Tsui...
during the years 87-8-9.
The zero of the table corresponds with the zero of the sounding in the Admiralty Chart, which has been found to be a foot
3 inches below mean sea level.
To obtain the depth of witer on the tide gange at the Victoris Naval Yard add a feet, 4 inches, and on the gange at Lagoat Dock, Aberdeen, add to feet inches to the height given in the table.

Now Local and Non-Local Storm Signal Codes will be introduced at Hongkong on it July, 1917, in place of the old Local Code, and the 'Chica Coast Code.
The principal change in the Local Code is that the new signals will show the direction from which the gale ia expected, whereas the old signals sbowel the position of the typhoon. The latter will be indicated, as horeto fore, by the Non-Local Signals. The new Looal Code is given below-
