MASSACRES.
Mr. Robert S. Stapleton, an American missionary and consni at Erzerum, has given the Paris Journal's special bor respondent in that town confirmation ef the Armenian mussacres in the vilayet of Frzervi.

Mr. Stapleton says that it was on June 1. 1915, that orders were received for the Ronation of, all the Armenians of the vilayet of Erzerum. Forty families left the town on June 10, of whooi, only one DR and women reached Kharpont safely. The great mass of exiles left on Jure 10), while on July 28 the Armenian. Archbishop Sembad Saaditian, the Catho Je Archbishop and the Protestant pastor were obliged to depart.
The first news of the exiles was received | by Mr. Stapleton in September, when s number of Armenisa women wrote to him asking for assistance. They had been talian to Serondy, Ourfa, Alep and Raks. During the journey the Armenians, wera victims of indescribable atrocities. One of the two daughters of an Erzerum doc- tor named Tachdjan twice escaped from the caravan,, bus was recaptared. She and her sister are now in a harem st Kherpont.
