A British survivor from the Ancona atatea that the ship left Naples on Saturday evening and proceeded to Messins, where they embarked e 81,00

The engines were then stopped The submarine came alongside and the passengers were told that a few minutes would be given to abandon the ship." Pandemonium ensued and all the passengers appeared to have lost their heads. The submarines, which had withdrawn a little distance, continued to fire around the vessel. There was a rush for the boats, many of which were overturned and the occupante drowned.
