INDIVIDUAL TEST PEGGING.-Two roos. Open to members of the Jockey, Pulo, and Gymkhana Clubs, and to Naval and Military Officers. Entrance Free. Cup presented by the Gymkhana Club. " GYMKHANA STAKER-Valdo $200. Dis. tance-One Mile. For all China Pónir. Catch weights at 10st 81b. Winners of an open race or open Griffin race or Ponies that have won the aggregate prize in the Gymkhana Stakes in any season 5 lb extra. Non-wining Subscription Griffins allowed 5 lb.

„BANDING RACE.--For China Poñies to be ridden by .Members of the Horg Loug Polo Club. Tu be run in Hess. Three or more rows of bambɩo poles will be placed on the course, and each com petitor will pass the first pole of the row assigned to him on his right, second un left continuing alternately, rounding the last pole and turning in the, samo. manner. Winner of Heat will be frat past winning post learing all poles stand ing or fewest down. As this is a test of hottemanship and handiness of ponies there is no restriction as to Weight, but each Rider must apply at the Weighing Koo for a number cloth before the race.,

Colours must be worn, (any Ladies riding to wear coloured sash which will be provided) and compeitors must apply at the weighing room for numbered saddle cloth. NEWS OF THE DAY.

Four Chinese were charged before Mr. Wood at the Magistracy to day with. the theft of $34 worth of oil and paint from the .a. Tjilatjap," of the Java Japan- China line. Three were fired $5, or seven- days. imprisonment each, the fourth, with i previous conviction, being sent to prison for four venuaya.

The funeral took placeat Happy Valley yesterday evening of Gunner William Lovegrove, of the 88th Company, R.G.A. who died on Thursday at the Military Ho pital, from malarial fever, after only one day's illness. Captain G. M. Do. Piro, in command, and Lients. Campbell and Hall were on parade with the deceased's

pay. Rev. Cooper Hutt, Chaplain to the Forces, conducted the service. Wreaths were sent from the following.The Officers 88th Cuy.
