THE COTTON TRADE.

MEETING AT THE BOARD OF TRÅDE.

LONDON, June 23.

To-day a meeting was held at the offices of the Board of Trade between Mr. Ranciman, President of the Board, and representative of the cotton op peratives. The situation was discussed and Mr. Runciman submitted proposale. with a view to improving the relations of the masters and men.

A second meeting will be held next week.

QUESTION OF COMPULSORY ARBITRATION,

At yesterday's meeting Mr. Runciman raised the question of the Cotton Operatives Union becoming partics to the proposals embodied in the Munitions Bil for dealing with labour questions during the war which insolve coro- palsory arbitration.
