Mr. Euries Caruso was served recently in New Yeek with papers notifying him of a suit for breach of premisa to MIRITY, brought by Mi Mikrod Meffert, n beautiful young lady resident, în this city. Miss Meffort demands £20,000 dani- ng, and declares in ber complaint against the famous singer that he pro- pel marriage to her on April 3, 1900, ; and that the defendant sanoneed the engagement to his friends here and abrodd. Misa Meffert alleges that Mr. Caraso regularly corresponded with her. writing in most endearing terms," and that in June 1910, at defendant's re quest, he met Mr. Caruso in Paris, and together, she allege, they visited Italy an England. Defendant frequently in formed his frieruls and associates abroad, Mis Metiert alliges, that he was his intended bride, and that he would matry her on his return to Ameries in Novem ber, 1910.

Mr. Carmo's attorneys announced that there was 10 cause for action against their client, who was under no legal or moral obligation whatsoever to Miss Meffert.
