A design by Ms. Harry Payne Whit- noy fra Titanic memorial, to be erected nt Washington in commemoration of the heroism of the men who sacrificed their lives that women passengers might be saved, bas been accepted by the Fine Art. Commission.,
Mrs. John Hays Hammond, secretary of the Titanic Memorial Association, says that the stress of Mrs. Whitney is a signal campliment to women, beesuse she competed with some of the most pr mincat eulptors in America. The enti mated cost of the numeral is £1,000.
Mrs. Whitney's design is the figure of a man symbolic of heroism. In white mashir, it stands with arms outstretched, gvig te maupusiems
of a celfix. The figure, which is almost nude, will be 15ft, high and of exquisite workmanship.
