DISASTER.
A terrible nooident scenered recently to an clotrie train running along the light railway between Grasse and Nice. The train consisted of three passenger cars in addition to the tractor, and was crowded with soldiers helonging to regiments f Chasseurs Alpins, who were going to Nice to arrange for billets. There were also sveral citilinne.
Many of the soldiers were travulling on the loot board, as there wasno room for them inside.
The driver, a young man who had been only a fortnight on the service,mar PÍT, ning a: increased speed in order to catch ' up a delay of ten minutes. It was Taining

Ovor three pirts of the journey had been naaomplished, and the train-approach- ing a viaduct crossing a ravine at a height of 40 feet. It is a deserted spot, and there is no habitation within a radius of a mile. Just before, the line reaches the viaduct thero is an incline. The train reached the viaduct, but the shock resulting from the sudden changs in speed cured the couplings to break be- tween the tractor and the first car.
