DEATH OF MR. G. S. HEFFER.
It is cur painful duty, says the "N, C. Daily News" of the 17th out, to record the death of Mr. G. S. Heffer which cccurred at the General Hospital on the 14th inst. following apos the accident which he suffered on the Race Course earlier that day. Mr. Heffer had been exercising a pony, and while: galloping along the straight seems to have collided with the rails, his right leg striking one of the wooden uprights. So great was the force of the impact that a compound fra- Lose zosulled, and Mr. Hefer was picked ap a moment later by Mr. E. Vida and Mr O. R. Burkill who, calling a doctor, had him conveyed to the hospital. In spite of all that medical skill could do, ho passed away at half-past six o'clock in the evening, to the deep regret of a large circle of friends.
A post mortem examination was held on Saturday morning, when it was found that death had beon due to palmonary embolism* This rane that a clot of blood became detached from one of the injured veins and stuck in the lungs...
