One of the stewards at the P. and liner Novara, nummed G. Narahna, was sentenced by Mr "W. R. Strickland in the British police court Shanghai, to three weeks' imprisonment for an assault on the third officer, R. W. Bennett,
The complaisant said that on the 12th. inst, when the vessel was between Sing. apore and Hongkong, he was on the bridge from eight o'clock until twelve in the evening. Witness sent for a glass of ice water which was not inmediately forth- coming. He sent for the mso in charge of the second saloon and when he came to the bridge, witness naked him if he was in charge. Accused replied insolently, "Yes, I am." Witness then asked him wby hela't zalute the bridge. Accused replied: "No. I don't late."
