Betero Mr. Melbourne at the Magis tracy this afternoon, Lo Kwong, master of the Wing Sang firm, 124, Queen's Road West, was charged with obtaining and having in his possession twelve tons Esiphong cool, knowing is to have been stolen. The complainant was Young Win, the managing partner of the Wing Hing Loong firm, 145, Des Veuz Road Central, and he was represented by Mr. F. X. D'Almada, whilst Mr. C. Fure brother Muson, of Messrs. Wilkinson and Grist, appeared for the defendant.
Complainant said that no other firm in the Colony dealt in Haiphong coal. It was a coal that was used for prac tically nothing else but glass-blowing. He received 120 toas on October 21st.
In reply to Mr. Mason, the witnes'said ' be was certain that no other Ermin Hongkong dealt in this description of woal. He had been sole agent from May 1st last. Two other ment used to deal in the coal, but they did not do so now,
4 junk-man deposed to being engaged by the complainant to tako delivery of cool from Hozoi. He took 115 toms. He anchored for the night at Yourcati, and had no watchman on board. He had to 'deliver the coal at Canton, and the complainant told him about the short delivery.
