As application was made to the Captain Sufierintendent of Police, by a wamer whe had been Lanished, for permission to return to the Colony to settle her affairs. Instead of leaving again when the time was up. however, she took a house and paid s month's rent in advance. She was charged before Mr Melbourne "this morning by Sergeant Terrett, and fer excuse was that she was sick and could not go. Sergent Terrett, however, said she removed all ber furniture the day that she was supposed to be ill. She was sent to grel for three month's hard inbour, and Mr Melbourne told her that she could appen to the "Register-General if she so desired.
