Yesterday urening Mr. J. F. Mikulec, who is engaged in walking round the world gathering data for a book, arrived in Hong. kong and paid us a call. He started us bis tour from New York about the middle of January, 1911, and hopes to finish in the ama city in December, 1914. Already he has done 70,000 miles of his journey and bas arrived in Hongkong two toonths earlier than his schedule time.
Leaving New York, Mr Mikulec walked across to San Francisco whence he worked his way to Australia on board & sailing ship. After walking through Australia and New Zealand he made his way to Manila with the intoution of walking through the Philippines. This, how. ever, he was unable to do owing to the rather unsettled state of the country at that time. From Manila he wont

Japan, and after walking the length of that country took stoomer to Vladivostock. Harbin, Changchan, Mukden and Tientsin ware visited before Mr Mikulec arrived in Peking. He walked to Hankow by the live of the Kinhan railway.
Mr Mikulec has been engaged in walk- ing tours for the last eleven yours and has written several books on his journeys and adventure, On one occasion whilst tramping from Victoria to Rio de Janeiro, fanges of mountains in Brazil During the whole time he had to subsist on oranges and wild berries. On another occasion whilst crossing Arizons he tried to take a photo of a camp of Indians. The Indians resented, attacked Mr Mikules and gave him very severe mauling. His life was saved by the timely arrival of the Indian chief who called his followers of
